Children, Family, Parks, Boots, Scarves and Fall

The other day the girls and I went up to my parents house for the afternoon for a much needed visit! Although my parents live only 35 minutes away, because of everyone's crazy schedule we don't get together nearly as often as we wish we could. So it was treat to go visit, the girls just love going over there!

We spent some time just chatting and having lunch then made our way to the park. It was a perfect day! To finish it all off, my mom bought me a hazelnut amaretto cappuccino for the drive home...*perfection*!

All of the below photos were taken by my mom on her phone, then I tried to edit them a bit to make them sharper.

On a separate note, I don't know how much I have talked about it on here, but I have been trying to develop my style more. I don't want to get too caught up in what I wear on the outside, but I want to start dressing nicer. For the past almost 3 years the majority of what I wear is pajama/track pants and baggy shirts. I have been pregnant/breastfeeding/ crawling around on the floor and have needed comfortable clothes that I don't mind getting stained. For the past 6-8 months though Ellie has really been out of the baby stage, but I am having a hard time losing the weight and have refused to buy anything new until I lost weight. Thus... for three years now I continue to wear maternity pants and kinda yucky shirts. Plus, style seems expensive and complicated somehow.

But you know what? Maybe it's not so expensive and complicated. I have gathered so much inspiration from others on how a few key pieces is really all you need to turn an outfit into something special. Thus, enter boots and scarves!

I have been wanting a pair of brown boost forever now, and that's what dear hubby bought me for my birthday! So I have taken every opportunity to wear them when going out. I also like how it looks when you pair tights with boots and skirts .That way you can continue to wear cute skirts all the long winter long! I think it's just adorable when I see all these bright and crazy looking tights, but Im slowly working my way to that. For now I'll start off with a safe shade of charcoal ;)

Scarves! I think I love them! It's one of those things though where I see them on other people and it's totally adorable, but I feel like I have a hard time pulling them off myself. But, my mom bought me the lovely below scarf while in Chicago, so I gave it a try. My mom and sisters rock the scarves so they taught me how to tie it :) I also saw a post on my friend's blog where she is showing her hubby how to tie a scarf (lol, cute :) You can visit her awesome blog by clicking here.

Anyway, that's enough babbling from me for now. Have a good rest of the week everyone!

Gentle Cool Mornings....

This morning the air feels just a bit more crisp and the dew is that much cooler... Autumn is on the way! Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year, somehow everything about this season seems just a bit more poetic. I have had enough of our fleeting Midwestern summer and ready for the breathtaking beauty of the fall! I love the way thousands of little leaves turn orange, red, pink, brown and green and how they look against a the backdrop of a bright blue sky. I love pumpkins, chilly mornings, crunchy leaves, steamy lattes, bright red apples, corn mazes, and cozy sweaters. I think it's almost impossible for sunrises and sunsets not to be absolutely stunning this time of the year!

These are just a few photos from last year. Although taken at the end of Autumn, looking through them this morning I could not help but get excited about photographing the breathtaking beauty of God's hand this year. Aren't you happy we have such a creative God?
